I’m sure many of you have heard of Superchips. They are the market leader in computer enhancing performance. They have products for most makes and models. They make Microtuners, chips, flip chips and have just recently added custom programmable Microtuners to the list.

I recently installed a Flip Chip on my 98 F-150 V6. I had my custom burred with a moderate performance side and a full out performance on the other side. The installation was very simple. I had my worries about pulling out my trucks computer but if you read the directions and follow them correctly you won’t have a problem. The install took about an hour. But that was probably because I was nervous about it. I’ve since taken the chip out and re-installed it and it took all of about 15 minutes. The first time is the hardest simply because you have to clean the connection on your computer to accept the chip.

If you’re looking for a quick way to boost the power on your vehicle…this is it. I immediately noticed the difference. The throttle response was much quicker. The power was much better at low speeds. Passing became a breeze. The gas mileage went slightly up and that was on the low side of the chip.

Flip that baby to the high side and look out. It’s all about performance. On the high side, my truck will roll the tires in 1st, 2nd and 3rd. If you own a F150 V6 you know that that is a huge difference. The horsepower gain is substantial. It will turn a fairly quick V6 into a mean machine. You’ll need more modifications to keep up with the 5.4 V8 boys but the 4.6 owners need to watch out. I added an AF1 intake to the mix and the power just keeps on getting better.
