Belltech ShackleSome people believe that a shackle is a shackle. Take it from my personal experience....they are not. I decided to save some money and buy the cheap generic shackles that are just two bars of metal that will lower your Ford truck 2". I had them on for over a year. The ride was rough. I just thought that is what I get for lowering my truck and putting it on Bilstein shocks. I was send a set of Belltech 2" lowering shackles from www.lightningforceperformance.com. The install is very easy. It took about 30 minutes to install both shackles and be back on the road. I had taken a 100 mile trip the day before I changed to the belltech shackles. I had to take the same trip the day after I replaced the generic shackles with Belltech. The ride was so much better. The Bilstein shocks had nothing to do with the rough ride. The rough ride was all in the shackles. My truck road better than it had in years. When I hit a bump the rear of the truck didn't bounce all over the place. It was wonderful. You don't realize the strain the shackles were under until I looked at the old shackles. They are two pieces of 1/4 inch grade 8 metal. The outer piece was bent on both sides. Do you realize how much pressure it takes to bend that thick of metal?? Very cool! So don't think that all shackles are created equal. You get what you pay for as with any product. The Belltech shackles were provided by www.lightningforceperformance.com. Review written by: Jon Tuckwood |
